Who We Are

The Norman Coalition for Refugee Support is an all-volunteer, interfaith, non-profit group of congregations, friends, and partners collaborating to resettle refugees and asylum-seekers (asylees) in Norman.

Originating at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in 2017, the Coalition now has contributions from many local houses of worship.

Now with eight houses of worship and many individual volunteers, the Coalition remains focused on providing refugees/asylees with “wrap-around” support in resettlement to help them become safe, thriving, and self-sufficient residents of our community. The Coalition regularly works to assist Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City in the reception and placement of refugees, as defined under federal law, who are sponsored by that agency. The Coalition also assists independent refugees and asylum-seekers not associated with Catholic Charities or other organizations. The Coalition operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and has been designated a “Welcoming Organization” by the Accompanying Migrant Minors with Protection, Advocacy, Representation, and Opportunities network (AMMPARO) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
